My family recently played in a golf tournament here at Long Marsh and Pine Valley. My parents think they played here quite a few years ago, but this was a first for me and the husband.
PROS
*Gorgeous course and definitely well maintained
*Carts are gas motored but are super quiet
*Lots of wonderful wildlife - we saw three bald eagles near one of the greens!
*Nice variety of par 4's and 5's with a few par 3's mixed in
*Colored flag system on the greens - my personal preference of a red, white, or blue flag so you know if it's the front, middle or back
*Friendly staff
*Covid prevention does have a separator on the carts but they are tied up at the top so if you want to use it you can. If you don't want to, then leave it up there. We didn't use it but it was worth mentioning.
*Nice practice for driving, pitching, and putting
CONS
*Fairway was mowed down too low and was dry (no recent rain) so it was like hitting off packed dirt at times
*Mom was flooring her foot on our cart and we just could only go in one speed (SLOW) and were just happy this thing didn't die during the 18 holes we played
Overall, we liked playing here and may return for another trip.

Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach includes the Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast and includes the towns of Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, and Englewood Beach. Within this geographical area, there are more than 19 golf courses, including 13 semi-private championship courses and 6 executive courses. The Ron Garl-designed Kingsway Country Club just off of I-75 was recently purchased and closed and will become part of the new Sunseeker Resort in Port Charlotte when it opens for business next year. It will be known as Aileron Golf Club. Here are a few of my favorites.
The Rotonda West community in Southwest Florida, just outside Punta Gorda is a deed-restricted community that is home to over 15,000. Rotonda has an interesting shape to it; if you look at it from an aerial view, it’s perfectly round, with 8 pizza-wedge-shapes cut into it that are separate communities. Many of these communities have golf courses running through them. Rotonda West is comprised of several distinct neighborhoods including Long Meadow, White Marsh, and Pine Valley.
Rotonda Golf and Country Club offers 99 holes of golf on the Cape Haze Peninsula, designed by 5 renowned architects: Pete Dye, Ted McAnlis, John LaFoy, D.J. DeVictor, and Jim Petrides. The Long Marsh has 27 holes and is considered Rotonda’s premier course. It’s also rated its toughest. Long Marsh was designed by Ted McAnlis.
The Long Marsh Golf Course winds its way through 450 acres of natural Florida scrub. Each of the 27 holes has a distinctive character, making it unlike any other course in the area. Many of the gently rolling fairways are framed by native pine, oak, and palm trees with natural waste bunkers, lakes, and marshes that add to the intrigue. What you see is what you get; there are no blind shots or hidden hazards. Four sets of tee boxes provide distances ranging from 5,257 from the forward tee yards to 7,120 yards from the back tees.
For those visiting that don’t play golf, there is plenty to do here, most of it on the water. You can go fishing, boating, swimming, and scuba diving. There are 35 parks in the area, perfect for bike riding, birdwatching or just strolling about. Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach has some good nightlife too; restaurants that feature everything from beachfront and tiki bar dining to gourmet meals. There are bars, microbreweries, wineries, and distilleries where you can let your inhibitions run wild.
This is a small sample of what Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach has to offer golfers. For more information and to see a list of courses in the area, visit them online.

Over the last 3 years Long Marsh won a spot on our top 5 worst golf course list.
1st You'll notice your tee time under the FOREUP software changes as more players need tee times. You show up at the tee box, 6 foresomes are stacked to tee off. 5.5 hours later you might be finished.
Always out of carts, and forget about hitting range balls. You'll be told " They're out picking now" you go look, no one's picking balls. It's all part of our top 5 worst run golf courses we play.
It is by no means worth 75 bucks. Reminds us of a Midwest 48.00 course, however, they always have range/carts
In the land of Golf Courses Long Marsh need to find better leadership.

Probably the best of the Rotonda courses overall. But they all have issues and are pretty much overpriced for the quality of the ground. Clubhouse staff is very good. Management has a tendency to stack up players with NO rangers to help play move along although there has been some improvement in that regard. 4 1/2 hour rounds, if not 5 hour rounds are still around.

Is a fun course to play it's not your typical class a course but it's a it's a fun course for playing if you're just out to try to learn to golf or want to just play golf

Nice course in good condition but ALWAYS over books. We gave up after 12 holes / 4 hours 15 minutes. Why they don’t force 2 sums to pair up is a mystery. Also need a ranger to force SLOW groups to allow others to play thru. Same deal every time!

A group of about 15 of us played Long Marsh Saturday Morning before my wedding. The people at the course could not be any nicer and the course itself is in excellent condition. Challenging track that can get very long. Smooth greens. We were all blown away by the quality and lay out of this course. Will be back next time we are in the area. Thanks again for making this part of my wedding day so memorable.
